★ What Makes GunJitsu Different

Most instructors teach you how to shoot. GunJitsu coaches you to win.

There's a difference between knowing how to pull a trigger and being prepared to protect the people you love. GunJitsu coaches the full system — from identifying a threat before it finds you, to what happens in the seconds after it's over.

The Four Pillars of GunJitsu

A complete personal safety system built on four pillars.

Mind, Body, Spirit, and Tool. Lifestyle is the lifelong pursuit of mastering all four.

Mind

What you know and how you think. Situational awareness, criminal psychology, use-of-force law, and the decision-making framework that determines whether you ever need the other three pillars.

Body

What you can do and how you move. Physical conditioning, defensive application, stress performance, and first aid. Age and physical challenges are factors. They are not excuses.

Spirit

What you believe and the intangibles that matter. Conscience, courage, moral framework, and the internal code that governs the most consequential decision a human being can make.

Tool

What you carry and how you use it. Firearm selection, ammunition, carry system, defensive fundamentals, and the science of the encounter. Last for a reason.

Yesterday, I took the Workshop - Use of Force: The Law & Tactical Considerations.

Class A presentation for 3 hours! Learned about Florida State Statutes from a $500 an hour Attorney on what to expect and protect yourself legally in a Self Defense situation.

Then Instructor Will, discussed scenarios on lethal & non lethal weapons.

I can't wait to attend the next Workshop.

I recently attended a class on legal information for post-self-defense situations, and I must say it was incredibly informative. The content was comprehensive, addressing crucial aspects of the legal aftermath, and the instructor's expertise made the complex topics easy to understand. Highly recommend!

Common Questions

Before you commit.

What makes GunJitsu different from a regular firearms instructor?

Most firearms instructors teach you how to shoot. GunJitsu coaches the full personal safety system — where, when, why, who, how many times, the tactics, and the legalities. The GunJitsu framework starts long before the trigger: Identify the threat, Avoid it, De-escalate, Deter, and Win only when everything else has failed. A gun is the last line of defense in a system. GunJitsu builds the system.

Do I need any experience or a firearm to attend a workshop?

No. GunJitsu workshops are designed for civilians of any experience level. Most workshops are non-shooting and focus on awareness, criminal psychology, decision-making, and prevention. No firearm is required, used, or discussed in detail unless the workshop specifically addresses it.

Is this for beginners or experienced students?

Both. The material is grounded in fundamentals that benefit beginners, but the depth and source material make it valuable for experienced students too. Most experienced carriers have significant gaps they're unaware of — particularly in the legal, psychological, and post-incident dimensions. That's where GunJitsu operates.

What is the difference between a workshop and a coaching session?

Workshops are group events focused on awareness, psychology, law, and strategy. Coaching sessions are private, one-on-one, range-based skill development sessions tailored to your specific gaps and goals. Both are part of the GunJitsu system. Workshops build the mind. Coaching sessions build the skill.

What is your safety policy?

Non-negotiable. GunJitsu maintains the highest safety standards on and off the range. Every participant is expected to know, understand, and follow the four safety rules at all times. Per the GunJitsu participation waiver: if the instructor believes a participant is or will be unsafe, dangerous, or involved in criminal activity, that participant will be expelled immediately with no refund. GunJitsu is not liable for slander or libel as part of any such removal. If you're new to firearms, let that reassure you rather than intimidate you. It means everyone around you is held to the same standard.
