Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

GunJitsu is a personal safety consulting and coaching practice operating as W2 Training & Firearms, founded by MAJ (Ret.) Will Rodriguez. We operate at gunjitsu.us and serve clients throughout South Florida and nationally via digital platforms.

2. What Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, including:

  • Name, email address, and phone number when you register for a workshop, book a coaching session, complete a waiver, or subscribe to our email list.
  • Payment information processed through third-party providers (Stripe, Eventbrite). We do not store payment card data on our servers.
  • Information you submit through contact forms, assessment requests, or the workshop notification form.
  • Information collected on the GunJitsu Training Waiver, which may include limited self-reported attestations relevant to safe participation in firearms training (the “Waiver Attestations”). Waiver Attestations are treated as sensitive personal information and are stored and accessed only as necessary for training documentation, safety, and legal-compliance purposes.

We may also collect limited technical data automatically, including IP address, browser type, and pages visited, through analytics tools such as Google Analytics.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Confirm bookings, send session reminders, and deliver purchased content.
  • Send emails you have opted into, including workshop notifications, safety content, and GunJitsu updates.
  • Maintain records of training completed, waivers signed, and coaching history.
  • Improve our website and services based on usage patterns.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

4. Email and Text Communications

When you subscribe to our email list, sign up for a workshop, or download a lead magnet from gunjitsu.us, you are opting in to receive communications from GunJitsu. These may include safety tips, workshop announcements, coaching offers, and other content related to personal safety. Our commercial email practices are intended to comply with the federal CAN-SPAM Act (15 U.S.C. § 7701 et seq.), and every commercial email will identify GunJitsu as the sender, include an accurate subject line, and provide an unsubscribe mechanism.

You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us directly at InstructorWR@gunjitsu.us. We use Mailchimp to manage our email list. Their privacy policy is available at mailchimp.com.

Text Messages. If you provide a mobile telephone number and affirmatively opt in, GunJitsu may send transactional or marketing text messages to that number. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any text message or by contacting us at the email address above. Message and data rates may apply. Our text-message practices are intended to comply with the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act (47 U.S.C. § 227) and applicable implementing regulations.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party platforms that have their own privacy policies:

  • Stripe — payment processing
  • Eventbrite — event registration
  • Calendly — appointment scheduling
  • Jotform — digital waivers and forms
  • Intuit Mailchimp — email marketing
  • Google Analytics — website analytics

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party platforms. Where required, GunJitsu maintains a data processing agreement or equivalent contractual safeguard with each provider.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate the site, remember user preferences, and understand how visitors engage with our content. These technologies include strictly necessary cookies (required for the site to function), analytics cookies (used to measure traffic and improve the site, including via Google Analytics), and any advertising or measurement cookies that may be deployed by third-party platforms we use.

Most browsers allow you to refuse, accept, or delete cookies through their settings. Disabling cookies may affect site functionality. Where required by applicable law, we will obtain your consent before placing non-essential cookies.

7. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide our services, maintain business records, and comply with legal obligations. Waiver records and associated training documentation are retained for the longer of seven (7) years from the date of the participant’s last training engagement or the applicable statute-of-limitations period for any potential claim arising from such training, after which the records are securely destroyed or anonymized. You may request deletion of your personal information at any time, subject to legal retention requirements, by contacting InstructorWR@gunjitsu.us.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, limit the use or disclosure of, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to receive a portable copy of that information. To exercise these rights, contact us at InstructorWR@gunjitsu.us or (706) 221-0729. We will respond within forty-five (45) days of receiving a verifiable request, with a possible additional forty-five (45)-day extension where reasonably necessary, consistent with applicable law.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

9. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, the “CCPA”), provides you with additional rights regarding our collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information. These rights include, subject to verification and applicable exceptions: (i) the right to know what categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the sources of that information, the purposes for collecting it, and the categories of third parties with whom it is shared; (ii) the right to delete personal information we have collected, subject to exceptions; (iii) the right to correct inaccurate personal information; (iv) the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising; (v) the right to limit the use and disclosure of “sensitive personal information”; and (vi) the right not to be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.

GunJitsu does not sell personal information for monetary consideration. To the extent any third-party advertising or analytics technology used on our website constitutes “sharing” under the CCPA, you may opt out by contacting us at InstructorWR@gunjitsu.us. To exercise any other CCPA right, contact us using the contact information in this Policy. We will verify your request through reasonable means before responding.

10. Children’s Privacy

Our services are intended for adults. Range coaching, EDC programs, and any firearms-handling activities are restricted to participants eighteen (18) years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from individuals under thirteen (13) years of age. Where a parent or legal guardian elects to provide information about a minor in connection with a workshop or eligible program, we collect and use that information only with the guardian’s consent and only as necessary for the purposes of the program and our recordkeeping obligations. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us immediately and we will delete it.

11. Security and Breach Notification

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a security breach involving your personal information, we will provide notice in accordance with applicable law, including the Florida Information Protection Act (Fla. Stat. § 501.171) and any other applicable state or federal data-breach notification statute.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of gunjitsu.us after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
